There is another open source AMD driver called AMDGPU buit that doesn't work for older cards either.ĭon't try to install any of the binaries or catalyst from the AMD site or anywhere else. In fact for Mint 18 or Ubuntu 16.04 they don't have anny binary drivers at all. The reason the open source driver is the right one is that AMD does not provide any Linux binary drivers (like you'd see in Driver Manager) for that series or any others older than the 5xxx series. to confirm that's the video card you have, the driver it's using, and general system info.
